Initially launched in 2011 and refreshed for the 2012 season magneticNorth created the online and mobile home for the largest classical music festival in the world, the BBC Proms.

Reflecting the drama, scale and breadth of the Proms, the site features easier ways to book tickets to the events and allows audiences at home to both listen and watch a huge number of broadcast performances from the iconic festival’s archives.

By browsing the site, the audience will be able to find all content by composer, theme and date, in addition to in depth programme notes for every prom, which in the 2012 season includes Kylie Minogue headlining ‘Proms in the Park’ and The Wallace and Gromit Prom at the Royal Albert Hall.

When Proms season starts each year in July the audience is able to listen in glorious HD Sound and if they missed it first time or want to enjoy any Prom again they can catch up on every broadcast Prom for at least seven days after the performance. Also, for those on the move, Proms content is also available on mobile, where you can listen live.

The BBC Proms website goes live at 12 noon on the 14th April and the season begins on Friday 15 July.

  • When the Proms was started by Robert Newman and Henry Wood in 1895, it was to bring the best music to the masses. This site supports these values today by giving more people access to the experience, and the ability to watch and listen to the incredible variety of prom performances.
